I can list on one hand the amount of lakes and ponds that I have seen that were not man made, it is not many. Most lakes and such in Mississippi are the result of the damming of a river and the creation of a reservoir, such as the Ross Barnett Reservoir as seen here from the Natchez Trace. I feel that they man made reservoirs provide a double edges sword, many are not used effectively for flood prevention, as they were intended and therefore only serve the purpose of emergency water supply. However they are beautiful and provide a wonderful scene for many photos, and just for fun. Nothing like soaking up the sun and enjoying a beautiful day!

Spring in the Air

The weather is changing, and aside from a few rather cool days, I feel it is safe to say that the cold is behind us. The wild onions are blooming and the other flowers and trees are following suit, spring has arrived in Mississippi! Today I spent some time with some of my adopted-family at the Ross Barnett reservoir having a picnic and enjoying the warm Mississippi sun. It was a perfect time… one of those memories that you will cherish for all time, I am lucky for the various wonderful people in my life!

My Mississippi

This video is patriotic to say the least. I have spent the last year discovering many things about myself, and I have done so by finding out how beautiful my state really is. Mississippi is not known for being the most beautiful, but people forget what is really there. I personally am very guilty of wanting to escape Mississippi, but I now have a unique admiration for this place, and I truly am glad to be from such a wonderful place.

Standing Tall

Throughout life we have to do things that we do not always want to do, but we must stop and remember the reasons why we do these things. Are they for the right reasons? I know that when we face some obstacles we tend to want to run, but we have to think about the others in our lives, and we have to stand up for those that are not able to run… we have to speak for the ones that are unable to speak for themselves. We have to look that fear dead in the eyes and go into it full blast to protect the ones we love… no matter what.

American Hope

For the past eight years the country of my birth has been in the deep darkness of a regime that has been unpopular and detrimental. The lies and hatred that the last eight years has spread throughout the nation like a cancer, and it has even spread into other countries. It would be conceited of me to think that America has a direct impact on every country, but I do know that every country impacts one another, we are all in this together… what happens to the U.S. will have a ripple affect, just as if what happens to France, Australia, India, Britain, etc will also have an equal effect on the rest of the world. Today History was made in my country, and our country is filled with hope for President Obama… a hope for change… a hope that he can lead us out of the darkness and into the light. I sincerely wish him the best, and I hope that he can lead with nobility and honor that our country has been lacking…

Sun on the Water

The Ross Barnett Reservoir, a source of much fun and recreation for many in the state of Mississippi. This photo was taken at the Reservoir Overlook just off the Natchez Trace, it was getting dark, and I loved the way the sun was showing on the trees in the distance, it was really an interesting moment in natural lighting.

Beautiful Couple

The Ross Barnett Reservoir is a great place to go and relax, and occasionally it can surprise you with beauty. These two trees stand in Lakeshore Park on the Rankin County Side of the Reservoir and provide shade in the summer, and a break from the cool wind like today. Oh and believe me the wind was strong and brisk today creating some wonderfully large waves that sent spray on anyone within a ten foot radius of the shore, it was a really nice albeit a cold experience.
