Storm Watch

Earlier this week, a series of storms rolled through the area, leaving the air crisp and charged with a quiet energy. The next morning, as I stepped outside, the sky put on a breathtaking display. Thick clouds still lingered, but where they curved and parted, slender beams of sunlight pierced through, casting a soft, ethereal glow. It was as if the sky itself was gently backlit, each cloud edged in light, creating a scene both dramatic and serene.

Cypress Reflections

Cypress trees rise majestically from the still waters of the Louisiana Oxbow lakes, formed by the meandering path of the mighty Mississippi River. These ancient trees, create a hauntingly beautiful landscape that feels suspended in time. The lakes, with their calm waters and tranquil surroundings, serve as peaceful havens for both reflection and recreation. It’s a place where nature’s quiet beauty invites a sense of serenity, offering the perfect backdrop for moments of contemplation or leisurely exploration.

Instant Sunrise

Polaroids offer a nostalgic charm—a retro aesthetic that feels both familiar and uniquely captivating. The warm hues of this sunrise and the soft textures of the clouds, frozen in time on instant film, make for a delightful contribution to Skywatch Friday. It's a fun and artistic way to share a fleeting moment of natural beauty.

Costa Maya

The morning sun casts a golden glow over the cruise port in Costa Maya, gently breaking through the soft veil of clouds. As its rays touch the surface, the water below shimmers in a rich, deep blue—creating a serene and picturesque start to the day.

Joe Pool

The waves of Joe Pool Lake, just outside of Dallas, TX, gently beat against the shore, their rhythmic motion creating a calming, almost meditative sound. The water rolls in with a quiet persistence, shaping the landscape with every ebb and flow. It’s a peaceful scene, where nature’s steady pulse contrasts with the bustling city not far away, reminding you of the quiet power of the water.

Entering the Scene

Descending gracefully toward DFW Airport, this UPS cargo plane makes its approach, entering the scene with purpose and precision. Its arrival marks just one moment in the constant rhythm of air traffic that keeps the nation's packages moving swiftly across the skies.

With engines humming and the runway in sight, the journey ahead promises adventure, whether it’s a familiar return or an exciting new chapter waiting to unfold.

USS Missouri

Constructed at the height of World War II, the USS Missouri holds a significant place in history as the site where Japan formally surrendered on September 2, 1945, effectively bringing the global conflict to an end. Following her pivotal role in the war, she was later transformed into a museum ship, preserving her legacy for future generations. Remarkably, the Missouri was reactivated decades later, serving once again during the Gulf War before being decommissioned for the final time. Today, she rests in honored retirement at Pearl Harbor, standing as a powerful symbol of American naval history and resilience.

Reunion Tower

Reunion Tower—affectionately nicknamed "The Ball"—is a defining feature of Dallas’s skyline, setting it apart from cities around the world. I’ve always been fascinated by its iconic presence. After 12 years of living in Dallas, I finally visited for the first time. The panoramic views were absolutely worth it, and seeing the city from that breathtaking vantage point was an experience I’ll never forget.

He ʻIke Hawaiʻi

Hawaii is world-renowned for its stunning beaches, and this island paradise in the Pacific certainly lived up to the hype. This photo was taken on the eastern side of Oʻahu, where the views are nothing short of breathtaking. In the distance, you can spot Mānana Seabird Sanctuary, rising gently from the ocean. The combination of soft waves, golden light, and distant islets makes this moment feel like something out of a dream.

Sun and Clouds

This was a spontaneous shot I took while waiting for my husband to get off work. I happened to glance out the window and noticed the clouds drifting by, with the sun glowing softly behind them. On a whim, I grabbed my camera and snapped the scene. What surprised me most was how the photo turned out—it captured a surprising depth, almost as if the sky had layers. There’s something mesmerizing about how light and shadow played together in that quiet moment.

Twisted

Decades of storms and relentless winds have shaped this tree into a striking natural masterpiece. Its gnarled branches twist and reach with a weathered elegance, while the deep grooves in its bark form intricate patterns, like nature’s own etchings. The scars left behind by fallen branches tell silent stories of past battles with the elements, adding to its rugged beauty. Each knot and fissure contributes to its unique character, making the tree not just a part of the landscape, but a living sculpture crafted by time itself.

Up in the Air

I’m not sure if we were racing or not, but as we made our approach to CLT, I couldn’t resist waving to the passengers in the other plane. The vast expanse of land and sky stretched out below us, a humbling reminder of how small we all seemed in our tiny aircraft against the grandeur of the world around us.

Framed

One of my favorite spots on any ship I’ve sailed on is the stern. On the *Navigator of the Seas*, it provided the perfect frame for Ensenada in the distance. The view was nothing short of picture-perfect—a scene so captivating that I couldn’t resist capturing it.

Mountains Majesty

These majestic mountains, their summits gently brushed by clouds, were captured during a trip to Los Angeles. I can only assume that it is Mount San Antonio, aka Mount Baldy belonging to the San Gabriel Mountains. What makes this photo truly special to me is the striking separation of land and sky, with the clouds nestled perfectly in between. I still remember the overwhelming sense of awe I felt when I first glimpsed this breathtaking view from my window.

Vultures

These might not be the birds you’d hope to see outside your window on any given day, but they’re undeniably fascinating. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe one is a black vulture and the other a turkey vulture. They spent quite some time dancing around the roof before finally taking off into the sky.

Red and Blue

Red stands out vividly against the blue sky as an American Airlines plane descends toward DFW. This 300-foot-tall oil derrick, introduced to Six Flags Over Texas in 1969, isn’t just a landmark—it’s the only observation deck in Arlington, TX. From the top, you’d get breathtaking views of both Dallas and Fort Worth, along with the mesmerizing sight of planes landing and taking off from DFW.

I’ve always dreamed of making it to the top, but somehow, it never seems to be open whenever I visit.
