Maya Air

This Cessna, operated by Maya Air, sits patiently on the tarmac at BZE Airport, awaiting its next island-hopping adventure. Whether bound for a remote airstrip or a scenic coastal destination, it's ready to take to the skies once again.

Boarding

 In some locations, air stairs are an absolute necessity—though I’ve never been a fan of boarding planes via the ramp. This Southwest plane, however, is showing Belize some love, shuttling passengers to and from paradise with ease.

AirCal

American Airlines has a special fleet of planes that pay tribute to carriers that have merged with AA over the years and faded into aviation history. This particular aircraft honors AirCal, a California-based airline that operated from 1966 to 1987. The heritage livery design, with its retro colors, has become one of my absolute favorites—it’s a nostalgic nod to the past that I truly admire. 

Yellow Plane

One of my favorite radio programs is the BBC presentation called, Cabin Pressure.   If you have never listened and enjoy a good laugh you should check it out.   One of the characters claims that everyone is always playing a game called, “yellow car,”  the winner is the one who sees the most yellow cars during the trip.   Obviously, he has never seen a Spirit Airlines plane…  so…

Changes

Time moves like a river, we are caught in it and all we can do is go and mvoe with the current being mindful to avoid undertows and whirlpools.   Things change around us as we move further along and we are helpless to do anything but observe the change and admire the beauty our surroundings.  

Finding You

Nearly a year since I've heard your voice; a year to find myself and find you in the process. I see you in everything I do, I see you in the ones we love. I know you are here with us when we need you; I know I can count you among the angels in my life. You are a part of me, this provides me a great comfort knowing that you live within me.  There isn't a day that I do not think of you, the difference is now I smile... because I never really lost you.

Change

There comes a time where change is necessary, no matter how used you are to something or how iconic something has become.  Change is a good thing in many ways, it opens the door to things that once would not be considered and allows for new ideas to infiltrate and old stale ways to have new life breathed into them.  While change can also be in some ways negative and the fear of the unknown promotes fear, change is to be embraced even if only for the reason that those who do not change are destined to eventually fail. 

A few days ago I got to see the new look of American Airlines up close and personal.  I feel that it is a good step for this iconic legacy carrier to embrace the future as they emerge from a long bankruptcy.  I feel that the new look is respectful of the history of the company and a gentle nod to the country it represents. 

More than the Moment

We tend to think on low scales, here and now.  We exist, but only in this moment, the past is the past and the future is yet to exist.  We walk in eternity, every moment we have is a moment that reverberates throughout time.

Fascination

Machines have always fascinated me.   From the lowly workhorse car to the space shuttle, machines have entered our lives relatively fast and changed our world.  Personally I am one of the most mechanically dysfunctional people on the planet, though I have improved a bit over the years, I am still just bound by fascination and amazement that a hunk of metal placed together in such a way can do so much.

Weeping Dixie

Clouds are harbingers of rain and storms and much to often recently in the area I call my home, the southern USA otherwise known as “Dixie,” clouds have been the bringer of Death.   Cities like Joplin, MO all the Way to Alabama and many places in between.   Even Jackson, MS has been hit by a Tornado this year.  It is a very horrific situation that such beautiful clouds can cause so much pain and destruction to so many.   My thoughts are with those who have lost homes and loved ones in the Tornados and the current Flooding that is still devastating so many.

Under the Sea

 

These fascinating creatures are made of iron and blown glass; they were part of a display at Boston-Logan Airport (BOS) and captured my eye and imagination.  I would never have the patience to come up with something quite like this, but it was very beautiful.   It amazes me what people can do when they get the creative urge.   

Many creatures reside under the waves, they can be both terrifying and beautiful… sometimes a strange combination of the two.   It has been a year since the horrific BP Oil Spill, and while we still have a long way to go before disasters like that can be avoided we still need to remember to care for our oceans and our planet in general.   No matter our race, gender, or even our species, we are all on this planet together and we need to take care of each other.

Shadows of the Night

Scenery can take many shapes, from wonderful sunlit trees, to silhouettes in the early morning dark of urban landscapes. I have often seen this very scene throughout my daily activities, and once before I even snapped a similar photo on my camera phone, but it was a less advanced phone than the one I currently have. I’ve always been mesmerized by aeroplanes and air travel, I feel privileged on a daily basis to work so closely to these modern marvels.

Looking to the Sky

One of the greatest thrills is air travel. No matter how many times you do it, when you look out that window and see the Earth below you, the beauty is astonishing. All types of air machines fascinate me; no matter if it is a plane or a helicopter and everything in between, to be up in the air with the birds is something I love to do. Granted in this photo the plane is definitely on the ground, but the sky is calling.

We Are One

My state and country has a sad history of ignorance and racism. I am not proud of this portion of history, it is a sad fact that many of us still deal with in many ways. I have seen the racism of my own race, and I have experienced racism of other races. I will never understand the hatred that people can have for each other, and how one can think of other humans as inferior… this kind of thought escapes me. I once read that scientists believe that every human on the planet is at least 50th cousins to each other human on the planet. I like this, it means that if we all want to be or not, we are one family… we need to start acting like it. We need to learn to put differences aside, and past history into the past, and we need to move forward together.

Medgar Evers understood the complete stupidity of racism. Men like Medgar Evers stood against the United States and the specific states that supported legal racism. He lost his life, but he did not die in vain, he achieved true acceptance for his people… and an honoured place among the great men in History.

However his fight lives on; just as the fight of Michael Schwerner, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, Emmett Till, and Martin Luther King, Jr, will never die as long as racism and hate lives on in the world.

Sarcasm Tree

Christmas is definitely the holiday of lights, and the senseless murder of millions of evergreen trees. Their beautiful death shrouds consist of colorful ornaments, and a dazzling array of lights. These three beauties were found in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dallas, Texas over the weekend. Kind of gets you excited about the upcoming holiday doesn’t it?!!!!!
