Reunion Tower—affectionately nicknamed "The Ball"—is a defining feature of Dallas’s skyline, setting it apart from cities around the world. I’ve always been fascinated by its iconic presence. After 12 years of living in Dallas, I finally visited for the first time. The panoramic views were absolutely worth it, and seeing the city from that breathtaking vantage point was an experience I’ll never forget.

Washington Monument
The Washington Monument is one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in our nation’s capital. Built to honor George Washington, the first president and colonial general, this towering obelisk dominates the skyline of the National Mall. Standing at 555 feet, it remains the tallest stone structure in the world. Construction began in 1848 but was halted for decades due to funding issues and the Civil War, before finally being completed in 1884. Today, the monument serves as a powerful tribute to Washington’s leadership and legacy, drawing millions of visitors who marvel at its grandeur and historical significance.

A Light...
When life gets dark and things seem like you are forever trapped in the darkness that life throws at you. Just when you are about to give up and allow the waves to smash you upon the rocks… Just when you need it most. A light. The light will guide you from the darkness, back into the beautiful reality that is life.
The light is different for every situation and for each person, it is what brings comfort and lets you know that no matter what… things will soon right themselves.
(The photo is one of Mississippi’s most famous landmarks, The Biloxi lighthouse. Built in 1848 it has survived the civil war, and numerous destructive hurricanes including Camille and Katrina. It is currently displayed on the Mississippi automobile tags.)

Spirit Hill Eagle
Pearl, Mississippi has few landmarks that everyone knows exactly what it is when it is brought up in conversation, and yet surprisingly you mention the Eagle on the ball atop the hill off Highway 80 just before you get to Miskellys, and EVERYONE knows what you are talking about. I remember the Eagle from throughout my childhood, because it was mysterious… who were these people that would have an Eagle on a Ball atop a large hill?? I KNOW NOW!!! The Eagle was created by Mr. Jones owner and operator of Ax Antiques that operated atop that very hill. Mr. Jones was not allowed to have a sign advertising his business due to zoning laws; however he had already created the eagle for a state fair and decided to use it as the landmark for his business. Now the Eagle is purely for decoration purpose. Mr. Jones has since passed on, and his family still resides atop the hill. It remains to this day to be a mysterious landmark for our city, perhaps now I have unlocked a little of its mystery. On a side note the hill on which the eagle stands in Pearl is known as ‘Spirit Hill’.
