Randam Art

I’m not one to get caught up in jewelry, I always see it as something a bit impersonal… created en masse to be given as gifts and although beautiful no real love was put into it.   It was created for the sole purpose of being purchased and used… not much different than a TV or anything else. 

One of my dearest friends has changed this perception.  Miranda creates some of the most creative and beautiful necklaces, among other items, that I’ve ever seen.  She puts so much into it, she puts herself into the items and each one tells a story.  I like this, it makes them special and one of a kind… qualities that you can't find produced en masse.  I’ve always admired her artistic touch and I’ve showcased some of her work on here before.   She truly is one of the most talented people I know and I am privileged to have some of her work in my own home. 

A Rose

Love is a lot like a rose.   So beautiful and sweet, and so fragile that it needs to be kept safe by thorns.   Too often we allow our love to be displayed for the world, and soon we are left with just a fragment of the beauty that once was.  Perhaps we should keep our love bound to us and safe from the torment that the world can provide… safe just for our own enjoyment… that is the safe way.     No… Perhaps I am wrong, maybe the best thing to do is to make it able to stand the tests of time, only then will it forever be just as beautiful as it was the day it first sprouted.  

African Goodies

The world is a mystical place. Many people I know are geocentric; there is nothing outside the borders of the USA. I personally have always been interested and embrace the world outside the borders of my home country, yes the USA has much to offer… but so does our brethren on foreign shores. I have only had the chance to travel beyond the borders of my home country once, thus far… but I love to send and receive packages from my friends in their home countries and continents. Today I received such a package from a friend and fellow blogger Jo, the package contained many goodies from Africa. I received Rooibos Tea from South Africa, as well as dried beef, and fruit, coins from Namibia and the Sudan, beautiful shells, rocks, and crisp bread… all items that are new to me and I can not wait to try, and cherish. This made my day so much brighter, Thank you so much Jo!

If anyone else out there would be interested in a similar cultural exchange… I am always in!
