Storm Watch



Earlier this week, a series of storms rolled through the area, leaving the air crisp and charged with a quiet energy. The next morning, as I stepped outside, the sky put on a breathtaking display. Thick clouds still lingered, but where they curved and parted, slender beams of sunlight pierced through, casting a soft, ethereal glow. It was as if the sky itself was gently backlit, each cloud edged in light, creating a scene both dramatic and serene.

Toes in the Water


I've always been drawn to the beach; this particular beach is in Cozumel, Mexico at the Chankanaab. Adventure Park.   As I had to work today, this is where I wish I was... or better yet, where I was going for at least the weekend.    

Just grab one of those chairs and get a nice strong fruity drink

Ironic



This scene unfolded yesterday, and I caught it on my way home.  

I felt so bad for the mail person, to be stuck away from another vehicle with a truck full of must-deliver items and then have that truck die…. Must have been stressful.  

But then to see one of the most trustworthy government vehicles known being towed by another vehicle draped in the American flag, seemingly against its will… just somehow struck me as poignant.

My visit to Hong Kong in 2015 was less than 24 hours.  I do plan to visit again in the future, it was an amazing place.

I Miss Mayberry


Time passes and things seem to get busier and busier and soon we will forget the simplicity that was once part of life in a small town.   For nearly the past twenty years the world has been connected and made to seem very small and now everyone is connected.

Mount Airy, NC is the epitome of the small town; it is also the childhood home of Andy Griffith and inspiration of Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show.   I had the chance to walk through the town and even have dinner at Barney’s I was reminded of a time not too long ago when the world was smaller and we all knew and cared for one another.

Hometown



No matter where the future takes me, no matter the distant shores I walk… this will always be my hometown. The place where I spent my formative years, the place where memories and bonds were created. I crawled up an over pass in traffic to get this photo, it is a photo I have always wanted to take. It shows Pearson Road in Pearl, Mississippi looking North from the I20 Overpass.

Snow!!!!!!!!!!!



Substantial snow in Mississippi does not happen all too often. This year has been as exception, at least two light dustings. However today is the exception to this rule, about 5 inches have fallen… and it is still falling. People in Mississippi are in awe at this winter weather, it is a treat for most… allowing for snowball fights and snowmen, things that we just do not get to do here. In fact the last time I have seen snow like this was 2001 and 1998…

Rue Bourbon


New Orleans is the southern city of sin, and I mean that in a loving way. Why there are many tourist destinations in the city, from the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium of the Americas, this is the one that most remember and love the most. With it’s many clubs covering a Varity of types of people and tastes, to its world class drinks and shops. Bourbon Street offers it all, usually at night when the centre of the French Quarter nightlife comes to life, and people walk in mass down this wonderful slice of beautiful sin.

Dark Road

I walk a very lonely road…
I’ve never pretended not to, but I do know that it is not a road that I regret taking. I am so lucky to know someone that walks a lonely road like the very one that I am on. This helps when I hit a rough spot and I need someone that can echo my sentiments. I never had that before.

Snow!

This is a rare sight in Mississippi, very rare indeed; and I apparently missed most of it by an hour. I’ve only seen snow maybe a dozen times in my entire life and the most I have ever seen was 7 inches on January 1, 2001. So needless to say I was surprised to walk out my front door and see about an inch of snow on the neighbors roof, and on mine and my room-mates car.. I love it!!!

I love small towns, and today I spent the day in Tylertown, Mississippi. A town full of happy people going about their happy lives. This is the main street of town called Beulah Ave, full of many great little shops and businesses to explore.

Mind over Matter

The power of the mind is immeasurable, things that were thought to be impossible have come to pass through thoughts creating actions and then things become possible. And there are times where everything bad is mounting up around you and it seems that you can not break through. There in lies the trick, it is impossible to break through if you do not believe you can…. Your mind is working against you. Believe it… Know it… Feel it… and it will happen you will break through! Don’t focus on how it will happen, just know it will… and the “how” will fall into place, I think as a people we have forgotten this.

Mind and matter work in conjunction with one another, and if you focus on nothing but negative things then that is all you are going to attract. Be grateful for all the positive things that are in your life, thank the stars for every thing that is going right, and know that that the negative is on its way out… fill your being with positive energy, and light… and then you will attract nothing but positive things.

It will do good to remember this, it will make you feel better… and things will get better.
