These creatures haunt our swimming holes and our dreams they are frightening, fascinating, and interesting. The American Alligator is one of the biggest predators in the area, and they are common in my neck of the woods, thank goodness this one was behind the glass at the Mississippi Natural Science Museum.

i was gonna say, i hope he wasn't in your backyard! :)
We have a few in our lakes here at Stone Creek. They're OK so long as they're not hungry and you keep your little dog in the house! :-)
We used to bike at Shark Valley in the Everglades on a 15-mile loop. One day we counted 150 alligators! Many of them were on the path and we had to ride around them. Great fun!
I would be very causios venturing into any type of watery area with these guys around. I'm too far south, but further north here in Africa we have the Nile crocodile
As Firefly says, Grant, we have the Nile crocodile here in Africa and also to be feared like your alligator. Hope you have a wonderful week. Blessings from Jo
