Golden Gate

The Golden Gate Bridge; one of America's most well-known landmarks.   I have seen it twice so far and each time I see it, it does not fail to take my breath away.

One of my favorite places to view the bridge,  Baker Beach.  

 We took a boat tour and actually went under the bridge; that was a great highlight. 

Jenga!

 In 2017 56 Leonard Street was completed with one of the more unique skyscrapers in New York City, the aptly named, Jenga Tower.  I took this photo during my 2023 visit to the city and was immediately taken with its appearance.  New York truly has some of the most unique skyscrapers in the world. 

Lagoon of Seven Colors

Nestled about an hour from Costa Maya is the town of Bacalar.   Bacalar is the namesake of Lake Bacalar known ass the Lagoon of Seven Colors.   It is a freshwater lake fed by underground springs.   It is relatively shallow in most areas giving way to cenotes that are hundreds of feet deep.    The reputation for having seven colors comes from the fact that the water being so clear shows as many shades of blue depending on how deep the water is.  It goes from a greenish blue, to a light blue, all the way to a deep dark blue.  Lake  Bacalar is also known as one of the homes of Stromatolites; one of the oldest extant lifeforms on Earth.   

Of all the places I have had a chance to visit, this one is by far one of the most beautiful. 

 

Swarm

So I normally only do like reviews of places; that is when I do reviews.  What that said, this is an app that I’ve used consistently for a little more than a decade. In its former life, the app was known as foursquare and it was really popular for a while.  When they changed the name to Swarm, they lost a lot of people.  The reason why I consistently use this app is because it is a great reminder when I go somewhere if I’ve been there before and if I make notes if I liked it or not.  I also like the map that it shows on my profile that shows me the different places that I’ve been.

Indoor Pool

 

Working on the weekend can be surreal sometimes because the building is mostly empty.   

I went to one of the convenience shops for some water and someone apparently left in the middle of a pool game.  The balls were still laid out waiting on someone to take a shot.  

I wonder if they intend to come back and finish the game. 

Among the Clouds

Though much of my life revolves around aviation and I have spent many hours in the passenger seat of an aircraft.   Flying still manages to mesmerize me; I absolutely know that I must look like a newbie anytime I fly with my face plastered to the window and my phone out taking snap after snap.    There is something magical about flying through the clouds.   No matter how they look from the ground, they take on a different depth and gravitas when they are just outside the window.   

 

Skyline

Poking through the morning mist the behemoth that is New York City stirs across the shore from New Jersey.  My second visit to the Big Apple in 20 years; familiar yet so very different.  The city itself is mesmerizing, if you’re not careful it will hypnotize you.

Toes in the Water

I've always been drawn to the beach; this particular beach is in Cozumel, Mexico at the Chankanaab. Adventure Park.   As I had to work today, this is where I wish I was... or better yet, where I was going for at least the weekend.    

Just grab one of those chairs and get a nice strong fruity drink
