Diva Dog

I have never seen a canine with so much patience…. Meet Noelle and her mom Meredith, two divas going through life with enough priss and sophistication to put any multi-million dollar heiress to shame. Meredith is the daughter of one of my very best friends. Meredith is the Queen Bee with the heart of an angel, always loving and caring. Noelle is the little black poodle with the courage of a lion and patience of a thirsty cactus. I have never seen a dog play with a child the way that Noelle plays with Meredith… ok well I had also never seen a dog sit in a swing with its legs hanging out, while actually swinging without making some attempt for escape, but I guess if you’re a diva… then its all good!

In Loving Memory

Wonderful people come in and touch your life as you go through your trials and tribulations, these people travel with you for a while, and offer their unconditional companionship and love… as all to often after a while and for whatever reasons, they once again drift away. Without rhyme or reason you just loose touch and go your separate ways, and occasionally a thought or a feeling will remind you of the friends that have come in and drifted away. But no matter what, there is always a comfort of knowing that they will be there, and that you know that they are well… But there are times when suddenly that feeling of security is taken away, and the friend that you loved has drifted further away than any place on this world.

Night Owls

This is my modern take on the Edward Hopper classic painting Night Hawks, one of my favorite pieces of all time. Waffle House is definitely a staple restaurant, one at every exit, and they serve fast and good breakfast food at all hours of the morning. If you look very close in the photo you will see three of my friends Celeste, Stacy, and Eric… granted you have to be looking for them.

Mighty Mississippi

A lot of talk has been of the frightening water levels for the Mississippi River, and flooding concerns. This photo was taken in Vicksburg, Mississippi on 4-9-2008. The river used to be about forty feet down the submerged embankment. The water is already forcing city officials to take protective measures and close the river all that protects the city from the Mississippi… but truthfully if the river wants something, it will take it.

Meet My Friend

My shadow is my friend; it is my brother, my photonicly-challenged doppelganger. It follows me wherever I go, except into dark areas, it is afraid of the dark. My shadow can do things I can not, it can grow even more freakishly tall, it can shrink, and it can be really skinny… all in seconds. My shadow has a sense of humor too, he can make his hands look like animals and people… although I think the dog, bunny, and bird are the best. My shadow is silent, I wonder if when I walk if all the sound from my footstep is mine, or is a quarter his. Who Cares! The Next wall in a brightly lit room, my friend is getting a high five!!!!!

Relics

Ever just feel like you’ve been forgotten? And no one remembers that you exist? Most likely it is just paranoia getting the best of you, the chances of someone’s friends actually just deciding en masse not to acknowledge someone’s existence is a horrible terrible thought, so the chances of it happening are minimal. That is unless you are a someone of special character… Something about these two places just reminds me of a forgotten friend. The Bon-Ton Café and the Peoples Café were once a part of thriving Capital Street in Jackson, Mississippi, both known for being great places to go eat. I sincerely hope that with the revitalization of the King Edward that these two places come to life as well!

Dark Skys

Everyone has a dark side, some more than others… how can we truly say what is good and evil, when each one of us skirts a very fine line. I've met some very righteous people in my life, and I've met some heinous people… but in reality we all have the same potential, it just really depends on the decisions you make, and where life takes you. There is only one judge, and no one can ever dare to truly equal the true judge.
Bad weather skirted my area today, tornados and thunder... the usual. There was something eerily beautiful about these clouds when I left work today… how can something so dangerous be so beautiful…

Beautiful Magnolia

Spring, everything begins anew! Trees refresh their leaves, many animal species refresh their populations, and pollen refreshes allergies. It all is a truly marvelous reminder of just how awesome Earth really is, and how lucky we are to be as blessed as we are. However we, as a species need to figure out just how blessed we are before we realize that we were once blessed and all these wonderful gifts have drifted away.

The Southern Magnolia is my favorite plant and flower; it is also the state tree of Mississippi. Imagine my surprise to see these beautiful Japanese Magnolias in bloom at the Mississippi State Capital Building in Jackson, Mississippi.
